Morrison House, Ayrshire
Responding to a rural setting
A competition winning scheme to replace a dilapidated farmhouse and outbuildings near Prestwick with a contemporary home.
The design features a continuous stone wrap around the main sunken house, outhouses and garden. Glazing on the upper floor affords spectacular views across the landscape and enables the house to blend into its setting.
Environmental features include a biomass boiler system, insulated blinds to reduce heat loss and an off site wind turbine.
Planning permission granted 2007.
