A low impact, sustainable development to regenerate Birnbeck Island and Pier using the site’s natural resources to heat, cool, filter, cleanse and grow. The scheme celebrates local traditions whilst ringing in the new.

The development features vibrant public spaces and a collection of markets, restaurants, bars, independent retailers and a music venue for festivals and concerts. There are excellent coastal views from permanent earth sheltered dwellings nestled into the mainland hill, with the island’s natural qualities enhanced through a sensitive landscape of mud-scapes, reed beds, sea pools and mollusc beds.
